Hui Ying graduated from University of Reading in 2014 with a LL.B (Bachelor of Laws) and was called to the Bar of England and Wales by the Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn in 2015. She thereafter graduated from Nottingham Trent University with a LL.M (Masters in Legal Practice) in 2017. Hui Ying joined HLP in August 2017 as a pupil in chambers and was called to the Malaysian Bar as Advocate and Solicitors in July 2018. She is now part of the Construction & Energy Unit of HLP. 

Hui Ying has been practicing in the areas of construction, infrastructure and engineering since being called to the Bar. Her portfolio of dispute resolution work includes construction disputes, adjudication, contract drafting and arbitration. Hui Ying is also one of the main liaison associates for HLP China Desk which has represented large Chinese corporations in building and power plant projects in Malaysia.

Hui Ying is one of the Co- Authors of a book titled ‘Lam on Construction Claims in Malaysia’ (2022, LexisNexis). She is also one of the members of the Editorial Board for a construction law text book titled “Standard Form of Building Contracts Compared”.
