Yip Xiaoheng

YIP XIAOHENGÂ graduated from the University of London with a LLB (Hons) in 2010 and thereafter obtained the Diploma in International Commercial Arbitration conducted by the Malaysian Institute of Arbitrators (MIArb) in 2011.
Prior to joining Messrs Harold & Lam Partnership in 2015, Yip was with a boutique law firm in Kuala Lumpur, wherein he was involved in the civil litigation involving contractual issues, breach of trust, tort actions and corporate insolvency. Yip was also actively involved in pro bono legal services involving the firm wherein his involvement included defending clients in a wide ranging criminal cases such as drugs related offences, robbery, theft, sexual offences and various other offences under the Malaysian Penal Code.
Yip also joined the Kuala Lumpur Regional Centre for Arbitration (KLRCA) as a Legal Services Executive where he was actively involved in the implementation of the then newly introduced Construction Industry Payment & Adjudication Act 2012 (CIPAA 2012), which included creating the development plan for the smooth implementation/operation of CIPAA 2012, drafting of the Regulations to CIPAA 2012, Exemption Order, KLRCA Adjudication Rules & Procedure, development of the blueprint of the flagship KLRCA Adjudication Training Programme, and designing the adjudication case management system for the Centre.
In his leisure time, Yip is an avid marathoner and cyclist who has to-date completed 5 full distance Marathons and 2 Ultra Marathons which developed his never-give-up strength in his daily life.
YIP joined the Construction & Energy Unit of Messrs Harold & Lam Partnership in November 2015.
